Magisso – cake servers and very cool cups

magisso cake server

I LOVE a good design in a product and when Magisso got in touch inviting me to review a couple of their products I took a look at their website, I think you’ll agree they have some fabulous designs on there. BUT would they be practical?

It’s all very well having the latest design on your table but I need practical too, why fill my cupboards with unpractical gadgets?

I have been sent a cake server, which won the Reddot design award in 2010 and two serving cups. Let’s take a look at them individually.

Magisso Cake Server

I am love with the design of this cake server, it’s like nothing I have seen before. The server is made out of one continual piece of high quality stainless steel. The design has been made to cut the perfect slice every single time. Take a look at my Vine video above to see how easy it is to use.

The server has a cutting edge on one side and a smooth edge on the other, with the cutting edge facing down you place the tip of the server in the middle of the cake, holding the narrow part in your hand. You press down through the cake and then by gently gripping the cake you pick up your portion in the Magisso cake server ready to place on a plate. Genius! By relaxing your grip, the cake will gently slide out and you are ready to cut your next slice. Oh and it’s dishwasher safe too.

Verdict: I have used my cake server on a few occasions now, from tiny cakes to larger cakes and am very impressed with it. If I were to ask the husband he’d most likely mention that the portion it cuts isn’t big enough but, for the rest of the family, we’re quite happy.

Magisso Serving Cups

Another great idea are the Magisso serving cups which are black and can be written on with chalk which adds an extra element of fun or practicality if using to serve or sauces and want to describe what they are.

They can also be soaked in water to make them cold and therefore keep the sauce or dip cold at the same time. Genius again!

Of course you don’t have to cool them or use them for dips, you can place any food in them plus they are dishwasher safe.

Verdict: I love them. The black is striking on the table, the fact we can chalk on them is a lot of fun and helpful too plus they keep products cool at the same time. Definitely a win in my kitchen.

Products available from the Design Museum and Amara.

Thanks Magisso
