Whilst Megan was here I had an invite to visit the M&S SS14 collection in London, I wanted to see Megan’s reaction to the new collections because being a generation apart it would prove valuable insight as to whether M&S are getting it right for families across the board.
I haven’t bought her clothes or boots that she hasn’t chosen for herself for years now. You’ll soon discover that as your darling tween hits Teendom your expert opinion on all things fashion that has been accepted 100% until Teendom arrived suddenly becomes more extinct than a dinosaur.
You will be the recipient of lines along the likes of…
‘You don’t expect me to actually wear that do you?’ accompanied with an incredulous face. (No darling I thought it would be an excellent rag to clean the floor with!)
‘Christ mum, you’re trying to make me look like you!’ accompanied by a smile but you hear the message attached. (Do I look that bad?)
or worse still… ‘Um yeah, thanks mum, that’s really nice.’ and the beautiful garment you lovingly chose is promptly forgotten and discarded. You realise your daughter was being nice and didn’t want to hurt your feelings. And it doesn’t fit you.
This is where vouchers and good old cash become your friend but much more to the point hers.
I am madly in love with M&S and give me an endless stream of money I could buy up a ton of their products; being invited along to their new collections is like being in an Aladdin’s cave – thank goodness you can’t buy as I’d be completely broke.
The new M&S women’s collection is based around the following themes
White Out – daughter shifting through the rails found quite a few pieces and even agreed on a couple of my chosen articles too.
She also found some shoes she fell in love with.
We wandered through the Pretty Things and the Worldwide sections agreeing and disagreeing on various articles. I loved a loud and gregarious bomber jacket – she didn’t. (See collage at the bottom of post)
There was Paint Box which is an explosion of bright colours to look forward to
lots of leather included too
Then it was off to have a peek at the SS14 underwear and I could have bought it all
We took a quick look at the children’s wear, Gracey shows her favourite dress off the shelves
And check out this really cool t shirt
One last stop at the Home section which you are going to LOVE, here’s a couple of pieces that I already have my eye on
So yes I can safely say we both loved the collections and although we may go for different pieces we’d both quite happily be let loose in M&S with a bottomless purse.
