It is British Egg Week and can you believe research shows that a whole generation is growing up without knowing how to cook eggs!!!

We have to put a stop to this now!

What will happen when men can’t produce a cooked breakfast anymore? When students can’t survive on scrambled eggs? When housewives, God forbid, can’t bake cakes? It will be the collapse of society that’s what. So I urge you to take a look at this book Take a box of eggs the latest cookbook on the shelves from the Diary cookbook series.

Over 100 recipes from basics such as boiling, poaching and frying, staples such as tortilla and Quiche Lorraine to adventurous Goat’s Cheese Souffles and Eggs Andalusia and then there are puddings, desserts to make you lick your fingers.

There are instructions from how to boil an egg – I kid you not, look at my photo

See, the list of possibilities are endless and check out the handy code to scan with your smartphone which uploads all the ingredients you need – how cool is that?

My first ever cookery book was The Dairy Book of Family Cookery, it was given to me when I was about 15 by a family friend called Cathy and it’s stayed with me ever since becoming my favourite all time book, in fact when I left it in Italy up in the loft for safe keeping on returning to the UK, I missed it so much I bought another one from eBay or Amazon. I’d like to think this little treasure will join her ‘grandma’ of cook books on my shelf and in my heart.

I love the greek sauce/soup avgolemono. It’s quite simple, eggs, lemon juice and stock whisked over heat. It’s really nice with lamb and makes a change from gravy.
