Matilda Mae

What a week. I’ve spent the whole time one day ahead. On Tuesday I was convinced it was Wednesday and it’s gone on from there. I am time warped and I was hoping it would correct itself but it didn’t. This normally happens to me after a bank holiday so I have no idea what’s made the difference this week.

Anyway on the whole it’s been a good week, an extremely productive one and one I’m very glad to see Friday arrive. My first photo at the top is in memory of Matilda Mae who sadly recently died of a cot death leaving her poor parents and twin siblings devastated. The entire blogging community has wrapped their arms around Jennie and I wrote a post on the brand new BritMums site of how proud I am to be of such a caring community.

Saturday: Busy day. I had my bridal hair trial which i was very pleased with the girls stayed home with daddy and I came home to this new game! I later took them to Build a Bear where we made some Disney Princess bears, review to follow this week ;) They LOVED them.

Sunday: It was time to tackle the decorating of the guest room, Paul did the first coat on Saturday afternoon, I finished off with another two coats on the Sunday and could feel my muscles moaning through till Wednesday. Love the colour chosen. It’s called Sunlight from B&Q’s own range.

Monday: I made a Hungarian Goulash in the slow cooker which came out really well

Tuesday: I went to Bluewater to sort out more wedding parafanalia and my sweetheart told me I could treat myself to a bottle of perfume for Valentine’s day. Luckily Boots had a 10% off so I went with Coco by Chanel. I also wrote about my Top Ten fragrances what’s your fave?

Wednesday: I made a lamb Rogan Josh using one of the WeightWatchers sauces for only 2 points. It was delicious and I served it with the WeightWatchers naan bread too. Very tasty but oh so small after being used to the real ones. I’ve also loved these Ginger and Lemon biscuits they make too and have finished the packet

Thursday: Valentine’s Day. We swopped cards and I made Paul his favourite dinner Steak pie, a quiet evening as he was off at the crack of dawn to Barcelona on his stag do with another 9 men from his office – it WILL get messy. He bought me a rose which I tried to take in macro and luckily it was a lovely evening after school and the girls finally enjoyed an hour outside in the garden. Bring it on!

outdoors playFriday: Paul leaves us at 5.45 for Barcelona, the girls have their Once Upon a Time Ball at school and are allowed to wear their fancy dress both went for princess dresses – we don’t go for anything else in this house I’m afraid. An incredibly busy day for me, cleaning ready for half term next week, uploading round-up posts on the BritMums site by the fabulous editors I work with and finally after school heading north to spend a few days with nonna and grandad.

Have a great week and if you can sponsor me, even just £1, as I climb Mount Snowdon with #TeamHonk all the money goes to Comic Relief.

Coco chanel perfumeI was asked to fill in an online survey a while ago based on perfumes asking me whether I had bought this one or that one, which was my favourite out of the lot and then focusing on a brand new perfume by a well known brand. The questions revolved around the name chosen to represent this fragrance and how that name made me feel.

Would this perfume empower you?

Would this perfume give you confidence?

and so on, you know the kind of marketing questions we get asked.

Thing is, I base my perfume choice on the scent. I have to like the fragrance and I will most likely go back for a few sprays over a period of time before I actually decide and buy, unless I’m in Duty free of course. Then it depends how much time I’ve got!

I imagine we all have our favourites and are drawn to the same smells every time. I seem to have two main directions. One is very Coco like, it’s strong and flowery but not too feminine. The second is fresh and zingy – L’Eau di Issey is my favourite example of this excellent description I have given you.

As I’ve been on a perfume hunt recently as I wanted to buy one for my Big Day coming up, I’ve been doing a lot of sniffing and trying on. I thought I’d share with you my all time Top Ten perfumes and ask you to share your top 3 with me in a comment, just out of interest like because then I have a perfect excuse to go and try some more next time I’m out, right?

My top 10 perfumes

1. Coco Mademoiselle – Chanel (RRP £46.00)

Remains a firm favourite of mine since I first wore it years ago in Italy, a scent that will never go out of vogue. I went with this one :)

2. Flowerbomb – Viktor and Rolfe RRP £48.00

Came in a very close second. I love the bottle and I love the packaging but most of all I love the contrasting elements in this perfume. I was very tempted and if I could be indulgent I would buy this one too.

3. Jimmy Choo by Jimmy Choo

I was offered a paper strip with this perfume on as I was passing through Boots one time and I stopped in my tracks as it was really nice. A definite contender. I’d be very happy with a bottle of this.

4. L’Eau d’Issey – Issey Miyake

One of my all time favourites, one I prefer for summer months too.

5. Stella – Stella McCartney

Another of my staples, I love the purple bottle and packaging and use this more in winter months

6. Classique – Jean Paul Gaultier

LOVE this perfume, adore the bottle and really like the scent too. I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of this one either.

7. Daisy – Marc Jacob

I have recently tried two of Marc Jacob’s perfumes and love them both. Daisy is fresh and sunny and Lola more sensual and flirty. I haven’t bought either yet though.

8. Extreme – Paul Smith

I bought this once as I was passing through Duty Free and in all honesty I was enticed because it came with a towel. As I was going on holiday I thought it would be pretty cool to have a Paul Smith towel on the beach. However I did like the perfume too and would buy it again.

9. Rush – Gucci

Bought this in Italy years ago and loved it. Have never bought another since but would like to try Guilty one day

10. Contradiction – Calvin Klein

Again had this years ago and loved it. The other Calvin Klein perfume I had was One which I still love and think is perfect for summertime.
