I was lucky enough to run a competition a while back for tickets and I was also lucky enough to have been offered a family ticket myself so as Dartford is out local theatre we booked to see the show on Sunday.

Ben and Holly Little Kingdom

I still don’t tell the girls too much in advance as they haven’t got the notion of time yet and would constantly keep on asking if we’re going. We’ve been to a couple of birthday parties recently of children in their class celebrating their 5th birthdays, the girls are already talking about thier party and it’s not til July! See what I’m saying?

Anyway I picked the 1pm performance and we arrived well on time to p;ick up our tickets and spend a very quick £20.00 at the souvenir desk. Holly crowns and wands and these sticks with three tubes at the top that when turned on whizz round like an electronic kaleidoscope – they love ’em!

I also treated them to a £5.00 brochure which had lots of games and colouring in to do.

I won’t ruin the story but it’s great and the girls sat gripped all the way through. I just get pleasure watching their little faces light up and seeing them interact with the show.

“Over there!’ pointing with their fingers trying to help out.

If you’d like to go check out the dates below and find the theatre closest to you, I would thoroughly recommend it as my twins loved it

See Ben and Holly on stage for the first time

From the makers of Peppa Pig and the producers of the two hugely successful Peppa Pig theatre tours comes the first ever stage version of the BAFTA award-winning TV animation, Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom. And we have tickets to give away!

The Little Kingdom – where everyone is very, very small – is home to Princess Holly and her best friend Ben Elf. Holly is a young fairy princess who is still learning how to do magic properly and sometimes her spells don’t work out quite right. Ben is an Elf. Elves don’t do magic but they are very good at making things. Ben doesn’t have wings like Holly but he flies on the back of Gaston the Ladybird.

In this exciting new musical adventure, Ben and Holly have fun and games helping Gaston clean up his messy cave; they go on a trip to The Big World with tooth-fairy Nanny Plum; and still have time to plan a surprise for King Elf’s birthday party, complete with an unplanned jelly flood.

Packed full of games, songs and laughter, this is an enchanting and magical visit to the Little Kingdom, live on stage for the very first time. This beautiful story of elves, princesses and childhood innocence will delight all the family.

Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom

We had the pleasure of going to going to see Peppa Pig’s Theatre tour back in February and the girls LOVED it. They came home with souvenirs, big smiles but more importantly a memory, a memory of going to the theatre and joining in the ‘He’s Behind You’ and all the fabulous parts a real live tour can offer children.

I’ve just found out Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom are going to be touring the UK as of the autumn and knowing how much my girls love the cartoon I just know they’d love to go along to the theatre show too. What’s more the opening date is at The Dartford Orchard Theatre on 26th October which is my closest option too, you can find all of the theatres and tour dates online.

Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom

The series won a BAFTA award for Best Pre-School Animation in 2009 and a British Animation Award for Best Pre-School Series in 2012.

In this exciting new musical adventure, Ben and Holly have fun and games helping Gaston clean up his messy cave; they go on a trip to The Big World with tooth-fairy Nanny Plum; and still have time toplan a surprise for King Elf’s birthday party, complete with an unplanned jelly flood.

You may remember we recently reviewed the Little Magical Kingdom if you’re interested, check out the dates and book up now Here’s a little info from behind the scenes….

Richard Lewis has adapted the TV animation for the stage and also directs. He also adapted and directed the two highly popular Peppa Pig theatre tours (2009 – 2011 and the current tour 2011 – 2012, both of which had sell-out West End Christmas runs at the Criterion Theatre) and the two LazyTown Live! tours (2007 – 2009).

The composer is the highly talented Mani Svavarsson. He was also part of the creative team on the two Peppa Pig stage tours.

Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom is produced by Fiery Angel and Limelight Productions (Fiery Light Productions) who also produced LazyTown Live!, Roald Dahl’s The BFG and the two Peppa Pig stage tours, Peppa Pig’s Party and Peppa Pig’s Treasure Hunt.

Ben and Holly Magical Castle Playset The girls have been avid watchers of Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom for a long time now, we already have a DVD and for one party we were invited to the gift chosen was Gaston’s cave which could be dirty and tided up, it proved to be a successful idea.

Whilst we were on holiday, Ben and Holly’s Little Castle Magical Playset was sent to us to review and it was only yesterday I actually found the time to get it out and review it with them.

It’s very easy to assemble as it comes in three pieces; a stand which is the garden and surrounding courtyard, the tower with doors which open up to show the various rooms and staircase and a turret to snap in on top. It comes with Ben and Holly figures obviously but a whole range of other figures are included too, including the King and Queen, Nanny Plum and Gaston the ladybird.

There are also two sheets of stickers but I haven’t had a chance to stick them on yet as I can’t get a look in!

This is the perfect age for the girls to be introduced to a tiny world, a world of miniatures which they seem fascinated with and they have been playing endlessly for the past two hours making up stories and using the magic wand to discover what it does in each room. I’ve heard them put Gaston to bed in Princess Holly’s bedroom as he was poorly, I’ve heard the King go off to work and the little ones saying goodbye and I heard Queen Thistle take Ben and Holly to preschool and tell them ‘Now be good won’t you’ do I really say that every day? I hadn’t noticed.

They have argued over who holds the wand but we got the timer out and are now practising our sharing but I can say they have payed beautifully together and are really pleased with their new toy.

I can see this toy being played with frequently but parts do come unstuck and their is a constant request to stick the stairs back on mummy, or the blanket on Holly’s bed *sigh*

My overall vote on this toy is a resounding 9/10 and I’d like to thank the PR company for sending me this toy which can be found on Internet between £25 – 30 in exchange for this review as the girls LOVE it. See our video!
