The beauty of having a blog is being able to record what happens throughout the year so one day I can look back and read it all and reminisce. Here’s what happened on Mother’s Day 2016.
I had a wonderful Mother’s Day this year although I was entertaining, so the two days running up I was hard at work, cleaning the house and cooking for my table of ten on Sunday.
I was aware however, during all this madness, that the husband and the twins were concocting a surprise for me. Tesco had been in touch and asked for Paul’s email address. I had a large box arrive the week before Mother’s day in his name and I had very strict instructions to not open or even touch it. The box was out of bounds and I would have to wait.
Mother’s Day 2016
Mother’s Day this year started with the arrival of the twins who love to climb into our bed at the weekend and we spend a quiet, snuggly moment just savouring the moment. These cuddles could easily pass as my favourite thing to be honest as I am so aware one day it will stop.
I was handed two beautifully hand-made cards and a box of my favourite chocolates, Lindor by Lindt. What a nice start to my day!
We all went downstairs and I was made a cup of tea and along with the tea came two bouquets of flowers. I could guess easily which twin had chosen which bunch, as Alice had gone for a pink heart and Bessie, had gone for a small teddy bear which I am guessing will be ‘hers’ once the flowers have passed.
Next, Alice disappeared into the kitchen with dad and Bessie started to set the table, I was served a delicious cooked breakfast and dad pointed out that Alice had done most of ithe preparation herself only requiring help occasionally. Well done Alice!
We then had to get ready for our guests who were due to arrive around midday onwards. so dad took the girls out for a quick ride whilst I got myself ready for the day.
Luckily I had prepped everything in advance and our Mother’s Day menu was Beef and Stilton pie or Chicken curry both with their trimmings and followed by the super Rose, pistachio and mixed berry ice cream which was superb.
A very happy mother’s day made all the more special with the helping hand of Tesco. Thanks guys
Disclosure: Tesco sent a hamper of goodies to Paul and the girls with a voucher to buy breakfast for us all. Paul was supposed to write the post but as you can see it ended up being me, thank you Tesco!
