I think I may have mentioned it before but I do love a holiday, any excuse to go away is a good one for me and I love to explore new places too.
Going away as a family needs a bit of planning and organisation as we all have our separate needs which, if we’re to have a great time, all need thinking about.
Short or long break?
Time would be the first factor to take into consideration, if we have a long weekend we need to choose somewhere close enough to drive to without taking up too much of our precious holiday time.
A weekend away needn’t cost a small fortune, these days self catering breaks are very reasonable and a family can spend three nights away in a gorgeous seaside resort for less than £150. By packing the car with food and spending days on the beach rather than theme parks, a great time can be had by all.
A swimming pool can be the perfect family pastime. I like to have a look at pretty villages close by or landmarks in the area but I know the children get tired so if there is an ice cream shop to break up the walk even better.
What to take with us
Some bits we always take with us are a family board game which can come in handy in bad weather or early nights, a pack of cards for me and dad once the girls go to sleep. Some favourite DVDs of the girls for down time and water bottles.
Where to go?
Superbreak have launched a genius app which can help you choose where to go and takes into consideration all of your family needs too. I’ve had some fun playing with it to see what ideas it throws up and I like it. If you’re looking for some holiday destination ideas than take a look and be inspired
