After our recent Butlins long weekend away I returned to find all the bananas in the fruit bowl looking very mottled indeed, husband won’t take them into work if they’ve started to turn as the journey mashes them up too much and the girls don’t like the look of them so I have to come up with ideas to get around this without chucking them in the bin.
When dad passed away my brothers and I went over to his flat to go through his bits and pieces, sort out what we each wanted to keep and get rid of the rest. It was a sad job as any child who has lost a parent knows and it took up the best part of a day. One of the rooms I covered was his kitchen, I couldn’t believe the amount of food he had in his freezer, every shelf stocked to full! That was all split three ways, cheers dad!
Dad also had quite a collection of recipe books which I brought home with me and one of them was a classic Delia cookbook – Complete Cookery Course.
My mum also swears by Delia as do so many other women up and down the country so I give you her Banana and walnut teabread which was so good it was gone in two days.
It’s an all in one recipe and gives a moist loaf ideal for picnics or snacks .
