Ha ha ha, I fell off my chair in disbelief.
It didn’t take me a nano second to reply and say ‘Of course I’ll do it, where?’
The reply was to visit one of the Westfield London shopping malls and as the closest one to me is Westfield Stratford where I can jump on the highspeed train and literally get off on their doorstep is was a no brainer.
The journey took me all of 15 minutes on a very comfortable clean train and like I said, the station is at the bottom of stairs and escalators leading you into the mall. Sooo easy!
Westfield Stratford for children
There is the most magnificent Santa’s grotto there which I can’t wait to take the girls to but do book online in advance. Tickets are £4 or there is a special family ticket for £14.00 including a donation of 35p to Save The Children.
There is also an Elves Workshop which opens from 12 – 8pm and has many activities to keep little people amused, some are for a small fee payable on the door.
There is a mini fun fair with a Carousel and a snow globe where you can have your photo taken too.
Westfield Stratford for Mums
The mall is on three floors and includes all the high street favourites plus plenty of other stores, with John Lewis at one end and Marks and Spencer at the other you are spoilt for choice. There is a fabulous Primark half way along on the ground floor too and the food court has hundreds of different options from the classic burger to something a little more exciting. I took a friend along with me and we opted for a meal at Jamie’s Italian which can be found in The Street which runs along the outside of the centre.
Just outside John Lewis was the Save the Children Woolly Winterland where you can have your jumpers customised and use the photo booth to take a photo, such an excellent cause, don’t forget your Christmas Jumpers Friday 13th!
Walking along The Strteet I got a photo of the Olympic park (see carousel photo above) and then I found a delightful Christmas Market too.
I loved seeing mums push their children around in the Kiddy Cars which you can hire for £7 including a £2 deposit, I didn’t take photos as the mums might not have liked it but you can find details on the website.
Westfield offer gift vouchers in the form of a credit card and in fact the money I was given to spend was on one. Very simple to use, as I walked around the shops I passed over my card to be swiped and the money was deducted from it. The only negative I found using this card is the shops and restaurants have no idea how much is on there and can’t tell you your balance so you have to go to the concierge to find out.
If you are stuck for gift ideas for Christmas, weddings or birthdays these are perfect because they allow freedom to choose whatever you like.
I was also impressed to see mobile charging points placed throughout the mall.
I thoroughly enjoyed my shopping experience at Westfield Stratford and was able to almost complete my Christmas To Do list. I would certainly consider returning there again.
Disclosure: I was given a gift voucher to spend at Westfield Stratford which covered my food, entertainment and shopping experience.
