Review: Jury Inn hotel – Southampton

On our quest to become the Royal Family for the Royal Caribbean we were invited to spend one day in Southampton onboard the ship Independence of the Seas, we had to board at 9am which meant to arrive comfortably and have time to spare, sleeping locally would be the best option.

Enter our saviour the Jury Inn in Southampton.

If you are thinking of visiting Peppa Pig World, Paulton’s Park or any of the fabulous attractions in and around Southampton or indeed if you are lucky enough to be boarding a cruise ship to sail off on an adventure then the Jury Inn could be what you’re looking for.

It was incredibly easy to get to from the M3 and we were able to park outside whilst I went in to get information on where to park the car. The hotel is ‘sitting’ on a car park which is very handy indeed and costs £6 for 24 hours.

The Jury Inn is also only a ten minute car journey from the docks.

We had a family room with a double bed and two single beds and an en-suite bathroom. The room had all the usual comforts we’re used to finding these days in a hotel room, television, hairdryer even an ironing board if you needed and is very well presented. In the corridor outside there was an ice machine too.

I was really impressed with the helpfulness and cordiality of the staff, from the moment we entered we were made to feel special and our stay was hugely enhanced by this.

We ate in the restaurant on the ground floor and enjoyed a delicious meal for a very reasonable price. Be warned the children’s portions are huge.

There is also a bar on the ground floor but our girls were too tired and we had a big day ahead so we decided to return to our room.

One lovely touch the Jury Inn has put in place for the younger guests is a library. The girls were able to choose a book each, and three were books of all levels available, take it up to the room and return it the next morning. They loved this idea and it made our bedtime a lot smoother too with this homely touch.

Check out was incredibly smooth too and the added pleasantries from the staff made our stay so much more enjoyable. I’d like to thank all of the staff we met for a perfect service, it’s so nice to see people taking pride in their work and making guests feel so comfortable. I’d like to thank Jury Inn Southampton for hosting us for the night and serving us such a delicious meal and on that note I would advise any reader looking for somewhere to stay in Southampton to check out this hotel as you will not be dissatisfied.

Disclosure: Jury Inn Hotels very kindly offered us bed and breakfast in a family room plus an evening meal and the car parking for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own.

I love that they are proper beds for the girls too. So often family rooms have a folding sofa bed or a camp bed. Those beds look super comfy.

And I LOVE the idea of a library. Will definitely look out for Jury’s Inn when we are booking hotels in future.

This looks like a fabulous hotel for families and I love the idea of making little ones feel welcome with the library. Such a nice touch. The food looks gorgeous too and the room seems very spacious, which is something I really appreciate in a hotel.

What a great way to encourage a bit of reading – definitely love the library idea. So often children are over-looked when it comes to hotels but it sounds like this one has it spot on.

There was a lot of attention to the kids, although I do think they can cut back on their child portions – they were definitely adult ones :)

I love the idea that the portions are generous for the children – as believe me my boy love their food. A great location and am loving the library.

So many times the in house food isn’t very good but we were delighted and would recommend eating in

That looks like a PROPER family room! So often an extra camp bed is just squeezed in as an afterthought.

Brilliant sized room and in front of the lifts which was a bit worrying but we didn’t hear a peep all night
