Me right now – The Gallery

Tara’s prompt for this week is Me Right Now the idea is that we are ever more present in the family photo albums as we’re too often behind the camera or too vain to leave the photos in there because we think we look fat/skinny/ugly/haggard/tired etc. But we must leave a record of our presence for our children to look back on too. How many of us have lost a parent to discover we have a handful of badly taken photos to remember them with, I hold my hand up regarding my late dad.

So I waited until this morning and just before my preschool run I took my camera up to the bathroom and took a few shots of me. It’s not easy, I deleted loads where I was looking the wrong way, which weren’t flattering (I know it’s vain but come on!) where my hair looked unkempt or just if I didn’t like them and having whittled them down to three here they are

taking photos of youself

I still wasn’t convinced 100% so on returning from the preschool drop; (it’s -minus 1C out there) I took this one

Marianne Whooley - mari's world

This lady looking at you can announce to the whole wide world that on Monday at 10.20 her grandson Evan came into the world (5 weeks early, impatient little tike) weighing in at 2,460K. I have booked my flight to Italy to go and meet him at the end of February and Tara forgive me for adding the photo beneath but it is also about me in a wayMy boy with his boy. It brings tears to my eyes, I can’t stop looking at it. Taken by neo-mama Oana who obviously has a very special eye when it comes to photography.

Oh massive congratulations! Although you seriously do not look old enough to be a grandmother :o)) Live the “me right now” idea – as the one always wielding the camera, I am also not as present in my photo albums as I’d like to be and am now really saddened at the dearth of pics of me with my late parents as an adult. Going to start rectifying that! Don’t have life but do have 2 nephews…
